The story behind The Sealed Bakery
Baking for friends
It all began as I watched my friend pass round a tin of home-made brownies at her daughter’s birthday party. They were devoured in minutes and were the ultimate crowd pleaser.
Thankfully, she generously shared the recipe with me. I began making brownies for gatherings with friends and, before long, was being asked to bring them to all our get-togethers.
Beautiful Gift Wrapping
The brownies soon became more than just a tradition at parties. At Christmas, I would package them as gifts, combining my love of baking with another passion – beautiful gift wrapping (my mother to used to joke that I had ‘wrapitis’ as a child, after wrapping anything that was not nailed down in the run-up to Christmas!).
For me, the combination of baking and thoughtful presentation became the ultimate way to show you care: taking the time to create something from scratch, then wrapping it with the same level of attention to detail. I believe it shows not only the value and importance you place on that relationship but also your desire to make the recipient feel special and appreciated.
The Sealed Bakery begins
Founding The Sealed Bakery felt like the next natural step – a way to share this joy more widely and to bring together my love of baking and creating meaningful, memorable gifts.
I spent many months refining recipes – tweaking ingredients, balancing flavours and testing countless variations (thankfully my husband, daughters and work colleagues were very willing samplers!) – to ensure the final products were just right.
Perfect Presentation
At the same time, I explored endless packaging ideas from rustic boxes to colourful ribbons, searching for the perfect way to present the bakes. The process was as much about creativity as it was about care: elevating the bakes into something truly special that tasted delicious and were elegantly wrapped.
A key part of that journey was finding packaging that looked sophisticated but was also responsibly sourced. The food-safe gift boxes are manufactured in the UK using virgin fibre material from sustainable sources and are biodegradable and fully recyclable. Boxes are wrapped in 100% cotton twine and sealed using paraffin-free and fully biodegradable wax.
